My Notes
Strange, out of character vfx and tone. This kind of tone is actually very typical of Disco and S5-7 DS9 but it was weird back then. Oddly gory? I like it but it's unlike the rest of TNG
Nate’s Notes
Tin foil hat time: Is this a sequel to the TOS episode "Operation -- Annihilate!"?
My Notes
Just checked to make sure I rated this one highly. Love this episode. There are slow moment of contemplation, it's just so unlike all the Trek that comes later
Nate’s Notes
Irish sterotypes are not a great view for the Trek future. Props for the shadow of the Enterprise on planets rings though. Not sure that was visible in standard def.
My Notes
of COURSE picard takes the helm, is there a term for when the captain does something critical when there are likely way more qualified people available?
My Notes
Nothing wrong with the execution of the episode, but fundamentally Trek has taken a pretty negative stance against any kind of genetic manipulation, why are they suddenly ok with it now so much that Troi is willing to sleep with the dude on the first night? And then Picard is feeling all guilty about interfering? Just doesn't quite ring true or consistent
My Notes
this one also hits way differently as an adult. I didn't really rememeber any of the middle meat of the episode. also funny how Worf is in major rehab mode but DONT WORRY HE'LL BE FINE NEXT WEEK
Nate’s Notes
You're not going to walk! But wait, here's a new spine!
My Notes
What I like about this (and TNG in general) is when Barclay finally comes forward and tells the Captain what's going on, Picard doesn't question it at all and puts all resources into solving it
Nate’s Notes
Interesting premise but the ending felt rushed and not really inspired.
My Notes
Love Rager's last second rotation at the helm. Smooth. This is why TNG always felt inspirational, everyone in the crew are among the best at what they do, and there was very little inter-personal drama until the writers ran out of good sci-fi ideas
Nate’s Notes
Just two chief engineers nerding out about a dyson sphere
My Notes
I don't mind this episode even though they do for some reason start to ACT like kids, but I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you're a completionist.
My Notes
more "is robot life actually life" story, the origin of peanut hamper. why don't we theaten its life again and see what happens? [picard smiles]
Nate’s Notes
OK story but mainly saved because of Peanut Hamper
My Notes
starts off looking like yet another weightless holodeck adventure, shows signs of more, but then Picard gives out his personal data to a phishing scheme...
Nate’s Notes
It is unfortunate that Moriarty was not develpoed further but I feel like this episode could have been avoided if somoene sent a memo.
My Notes
They needed more Troi episodes where she does something other than state the obvious to Picard. It's a decent episode, not really sure why Troi was selected, and I don't like/don't buy the memory loss setup and Troi needing to have every step of the way explained to her. I guess that's just how you have to play it to make it entertaining for 45 minutes.
My Notes
Of all the trek episodes where a crewmember falls for a guest, this one somehow feels the most believable. Also you get LOTS of screen time of Picard pretending real hard to play the flute
My Notes
What color... WERE HIS EYESSSSS? Rare is the episode that Gowron is on the right side. When religion can't wait any more and has to turn to science for their solution. Irony?
Nate’s Notes
Klingon deep cut but a good exploration of how a society may act if a religious figure reappeared
My Notes
Technology that could prevent injury to all future away teams? Nah let's dump it. The only realistic part of this episode is Picard putting the reprimand in Geordi's record
Nate’s Notes
The lines that cannot be crossed come up at weird times. Play with time a few episodes ago? No problem! Listen to Geordi in this episode? Nope!
My Notes
Interesting that they went back to back with the surreal "in the head" episodes right? It's too long I think, but I like that Troi and Riker later name their kid after this lost child
Nate’s Notes
One of the darker Trek episodes. Good use of Lwaxana without leaning into shtick.
My Notes
When I was younger I thought this episode was super lame, but now that I'm older, the concept of sharing thoughts is handled pretty well here. Gates is so good and she was so under-utilized throughout the show. The covert ops conspiracy double talk is still annoying.
Nate’s Notes
Finally an episode that explores Picard and Crushers relationship
My Notes
This one's pretty silly seeing it later in life. A super secret 60 year old cloaking device that can be carried by one person that's super overpowered but wasn't researched by starfleet or any other race in that entire time?
My Notes
Still called Indians this far in the future? I was worried about rewatching this one. Also somewhat humorous that they claim they waited 200 years to find a home, and are complaining that they've been here 20. This episode is important for the Wesley follow up but it's a bit disappointing now vs the last time I saw it. The relocation of a "native" culture is an important theme, but these people are not native to this area so that concept fails. Also shoehorning the traveler into this story is absolutely reaching.
My Notes
Seeing Worf try to be a father always makes me feel better about being a dad. Man I love seeing tng/ds9 crossover scenes. Wish we could've gotten more
My Notes
The writing in season 7 was really taking a nosedive. This idea could have been good but it was poorly executed and it also seems like we've seen stories like this before
